Evidence-driven, effective and efficient government policies are the surest way to a healthier world where millions live longer, more fulfilling lives. But good policies don’t come about by evidence alone—they require strategic campaigns to mobilize the public, capture the attention of journalists, and convince policymakers. Vital Strategies Action Fund works to keep good policy proposals in play and to protect existing policies so they don’t fall prey to vested interests whose activities harm public health. The Action Fund is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(4)organization working to advance health-focused public policies in countries around the world and is affiliated with the global public health organization VitalStrategies.
The Action Fund promotes legislation, regulations, and government programs to strengthen public health systems and address the world’s leading drivers of illness, injury, and death. These include tobacco, ultra-processed food, sugary drinks, alcohol and air pollution. At the same time, the Action Fund seeks to protect common-sense health policies—often defending them from attacks by powerful commercial interests that seek to undermine laws designed to protect health.
Through savvy campaigns that bring together determined public health experts, engaged communities, and skilled campaigners, the Vital Strategies Action Fund supports governments in advancing and defending policies that protect hundreds of millions of people around the world.
